DO CHEVY LS3?S NEED REWARD GAS?

Do Chevy LS3's require premium gas? I'm on a road trip with my grandpa and he has a 2007 Escalade with the 6.2 liter LS3 V8. He keeps filling it up with 87 octane due to the high prices of premium, but I told him it probably requires 91-92 premium. I know that new Corvettes should run on premium, and I believe the truck engine has the same internals with the main difference being the exhaust.
