Is an Ignition Switch difficult to replace on a 99 Chevy Malibu? The switch is not mounted in the steering column, so I am hoping that it is not as difficult to work on as others. Car will turn over fine, but engine will not fire. I checked all of the ignition fuses. I have auto-start on my car and it will start the car, but the ignition switch will not register that the key has been set to the 'on' position and the safety feature shuts the car off as soon as the brake pedal is pushed.
